It rarely happens that the origins of a wine can be traced back to one single man. Brunello di Montalcino, however, owes its existence to the inventiveness of Celemente Santi and his nephew Ferruccio Biondi Santi who, in the 1900s, began to vinify pure Sangiovese Grosso in Montalcino.

Since 1888, the first vintage of Brunello in history, Biondi-Santi continued to produce wines renowned for their elegance and extraordinary longevity. No Compromise. Careful attention to details and excellent craftsmanship accompany Biondi Santi Brunello which is produced with hand selected grapes from the estate vineyards. In the winery it is fermented in cement vats with the use of indigenous yeasts and ages in large Slavonian oak barrels, according to tradition.

The vintage 1995 was exceptional, at the beginning of September the grapes were already ripe. Harvesting began in the second half of the month and the course was dry and cool. The Riserva 1995 used grapes coming exclusively from the oldest vineyards over 25 years old.

It was able to benefit from a very long bottle aging in the quiet and darkness of "La Storica", the aging cellar of Tenuta Greppo, where all the historical vintages of Riserva Biondi-Santi are scrupulously kept.
